Family Medical Center of Hart County was founded in 1977 by Dr. James Middleton Jr. As a native of the Hart County community, Dr. Middleton wanted to come home to take care of his own friends, family and neighbors. He specializes in family care which includes a wide range of care covering geriatrics, adult illnesses, gynecology and children. In 1980, Dr. Evelyn Salisbury (Dr. Middleton's wife) joined the practice being the first pediatrician in Hart County. Dr. Salisbury specializes in pediatrics, which is children from newborn until 18 years of age, as well as allergy. In 1999 with the increasingly amount of pediatric patients the need for another pediatrician was evident. Dr. Ann Marie Hemmer became a provider and later part owner at the Family Medical Center of Hart County. She is originally from eastern Kentucky and wanted to continue her practice in rural Kentucky. As Family Medical Center of Hart County continued to grow so did the need for multiple renovations and many changes. Along with the three owners Family Medical Center of Hart County has a staff of 33 full time employees and three other providers which include Julie Percefull (Pediatrics), Shannon Mester, APRN (Family Practice) and Tiffany Saltsman (Family Practice).
